David provides consulting services to business owners, corporations, ministries and non-profits creating value for them in the areas of strategic and business planning, facilitation, coaching, board governance and performance management. He has worked on projects in 19 countries. Prior to forming Mustine Consulting in 2002, David served as senior Vice President - Business Planning and Services of American Electric Power’s regulated business unit. Mr. Mustine’s responsibilities included regulatory and issues management, support services, business planning, financial management, business development and community services including economic development. Mustine joined American Electric Power in 1986 in the corporate financial planning group. In 1989 Mr. Mustine was named Ohio Governmental Affairs Manager. In 1994 he became General Manager and Executive Assistant to AEP's Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. As General Manager, Mr. Mustine was responsible for developing AEP's unregulated businesses including engineering services, power plant and foreign utility investments and technology investments. In 1995, he became Vice President and in 1996 he became Senior Vice President of these businesses. David served on the boards of numerous AEP domestic and international subsidiaries. In 1997 Mr. Mustine was named Senior Vice President, European Development, based in London , where his responsibilities included enhancing existing investments (Yorkshire Electricity), targeting and developing new investment opportunities and forming long-term relationships with potential partners and foreign governments. Before joining AEP, Mr. Mustine was an Investment Manager for the Energy Division of Bechtel Investments, Inc. in Houston specializing in oil and gas joint ventures and partnerships. David has served as a member of the Mayor Coleman’s Downtown Initiative Advisory Council, Columbus Chamber of Commerce’s Governmental Affairs board committee and Ohio State University ’s College of Engineering Strategy Council . Mr. Mustine is a past board member of DINAMO (Inland Waterway Development Organization), Capital Square Renovation, Ohio West Virginia YMCA and Center for New Directions. He served as an executive pastor and as a church lay leader in the areas of missions, strategic planning, teaching, small group ministry, stewardship, governance and administration. Mr. Mustine received a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University, a master in business administration degree majoring in corporate finance from the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business at DePaul University and a master of arts degree majoring in missions from Ashland Theological Seminary. John and Miriam Carver trained Mr. Mustine at the 2004 Policy Governance® Academy SM.
